Paco Rabanne Pure XS

This is currently one of the biggest fragrance launches, and I'm not at all surprised. Paco Rabanne's One Million and Invictus fragrances have managed to uphold their reputations as some of the most popular and fast-selling scents in the month of December. So it's inevitable that many men have- no doubt- heard of, and wish to try out their latest venture, Pure XS.

Pure XS is an oriental fragrance that's portrayed as 'the new fantasy for the modern man'. It's also being marketed as a luxury fragrance, and the packaging is so opulent that the glass bottle is weighted, and the box adorned with smooth blue velvet (yes-really!) and glossed gold writing.

At the moment, there's a lot of negativity surrounding this fragrance, and I'm not quite sure why as I think it's really nice. Maybe it's because I'm a woman reviewing a male fragrance? Perhaps. But there's one thing I can say as a female- that the fragrance is insanely magnetic. Yes, it's nothing entirely ground-breaking in comparison to Paco Rabanne's existing line of fragrances, but it's still a good'un and fits in with contemporary perfume trends.

The scent is made up of an interesting collection of notes:

Top notes: Green Sap, White Thyme
Heart notes: Ginger, Cinnamon
Base notes: Vanilla, Myrrh

What's fascinating about Pure XS is that there are two note themes. On the one hand, you have fresh, cool notes and on the other, there are notes of spice and incense- and it works to create an enticing fragrance.

The opening is vibrant and fresh, which quickly makes way for the heart. The cinnamon note comes through beautifully, and its gentle transition to the warm yet subtle sweet base works well. The Vanilla and Myrrh = Marriage made in heaven.

It might not cater to everyone's tastes, but Paco Rabanne haven't done badly with this fragrance. I did my research on it before being sent it, and I was pleasantly surprised. So don't judge until you've tried it!

Pure XS is currently available nationwide, and is priced at £47 for 50ml/£64.50 for 100ml.
