YSL Black Opium Floral Shock and The Shock Mascara

YSL have just launched a brand new fragrance and mascara as a duo- Black Opium Floral Shock and The Shock mascara. This is the first time that YSL have done a make up and fragrance co-launch, and it's a good one.

YSL Black Opium Floral Shock
I'm a big Black Opium fan, and I've tried out quite a few of the variations of the fragrance- Black Opium EDP, EDT and Nuit Blanche. Having tried the new Floral Shock, I can definitely say that this one is just as gorgeous as its sisters. Floral Shock is a sensual floral fragrance that's sweet but not the candy or sickly type. The notes of Coffee and Bergamot definitely come through, and quite well.

Key notes: Bergamot, Pear, Gardenia Accord, Orange Blossom, Coffee Accord

Floral Shock is a sensual floral fragrance that's sweet but not the candy or sickly type. The notes of Coffee and Bergamot definitely come through, and quite well. I'm also glad that Coffee Accord is included in Floral Shock as it is in the other Black Opium fragrances, as that's what makes the iconic scent so unique and addictive.

YSL The Shock Mascara
I already have quite long lashes, so a mascara has to be exceptional for me to favour it- that means no clumping, no fall out, and provide excellent curl and volume. YSL The Shock Mascara promises to volumise lashes dramatically, and it does exactly that.
The Shock has a wide brush and I must admit that at first, I was a little worried about over-application particularly as the brush holds a lot of product. However, I was surprised as I didn't experience any clumping. The mascara made my lashes look thicker and more volumised. My advice would be to apply slowly. The mascara is also very, very pigmented and so intensifies the lashes.

Also, what I loved most about this mascara is the creamy texture of it, which sounds strange because it's not as if it's a skincare product. But it really does make a difference as it makes it easier to apply multiple coats if need be; usually with mascaras, applying a second coat can be annoying as the lashes are slightly hardened from the first. However with The Shock, multiple coats glide onto the lashes and are resistant to clumping.
The mascara is also beautifully scented, and it's the first ever scented mascara I've come across.

To be honest, I usually prefer it when my lashes have a natural look to them, and feel light. But I'll definitely be wearing The Shock in the evenings and nights out.

YSL Black Opium Floral Shock is priced at £71 for 50ml, and The Shock mascara is priced at £23. Both can be purchased HERE
