RiRi by Rihanna

Rihanna's fragrance press office sent me a beautiful parcel a few weeks ago containing the new RiRi fragrance. It's her 5th fragrance and she had been hinting at it for over a year- I love Rihanna to bits and I was so excited. Although I review a lot of celebrity fragrances, it's very rare for me to discover one that's unique and I've fallen in love with.

Rihanna is one of the rare celebrities that actually knows how to create a fragrance. When she launched Reb'l Fleur back in 2011, I headed straight to Westfield from uni to purchase it. I remember the fruity oriental notes hitting my nose as soon as I pressed the nozzle and I fell in love. In fact, I still have that exact same bottle today but there's not much left!

Inspired by Rihanna's passion to always reveal her true self, the new RiRi fragrance is a fruity floral that's sweet and flirty but not in a sickly sense. It's much lighter than Rihanna's previous fragrances and is very crisp and refreshing. Rogue was a little bit different compared to Rihanna's first three fragrances as it relied on more floral notes than fruity ones. RiRi goes back to the fruity notes so if you liked any of the first three and weren't a fan of Rogue, you'll probably like it.

As always with Rihanna fragrances, there's a few interesting notes thrown into RiRi- including absolute rum and passion fruit extract. Who would've thought- rum?! Here's the full list of notes:

Top Notes: Passion Fruit, Rum Absolute, Sparkling Cassis, Italian Mandarin
Heart Notes: Japanese Honeysuckle, Orange Blossom, Exotic Jasmine, Pink Freesia
Base Notes: Madagascar Vanilla, Warm Skin Musk, Indonesian Sandalwood

As you can see, the fragrance is full of sensual notes that altogether work very well. It was clearly well thought out. The opening of the fragrance is so exotic and oh my goodness- the rum adds so much depth to the fragrance alongside the passion fruit and is absolutely gorgeous! Despite my initial thoughts, the rum wasn't boozy at all, and the vanilla and sandalwood notes in the base make the scent even more alluring.

Whilst the fragrance is sweet and fruity, it isn't at all overpowering- that being said, the silage isn't as strong as her previous fragrances and is quite soft. If this was any other fragrance, I'd find it to be a shame but I can't imagine the scent being any stronger as it would be ruined. It really is a lovely and pleasant fragrance.

Also, Rihanna has given us a completely different design- i.e. no tall stiletto or rectangular bottles, so she's essentially refreshed the line. The bottle almost looks like the skirt of a dress, implying femininity and fun- I love it!

RiRi by Rihanna Eau de Parfum is available now in Superdrug stores and online at Superdrug.com
