Protein World | Slender Blend review

After constantly seeing tweets and Instagram posts raving about Protein World's Slender Blend, I gave in and had a go of the popular stuff myself! So far- along with my exercise routine, I've experienced some amazing results whilst having a serving of Slender Blend a day, including a 2lb weight loss in 5 days, an inch off my waist and stronger nails in the process!

Slender Blend was recently launched for women, and is specifically targeted for weight loss. It contains Whey Protein, Raspberry Ketones, and Green Tea- which is proven to support fat loss. Protein World has done well to make a product high in protein appealing to a female market as I know so many women who keep away from protein shakes due to the fear of 'bulking up'. But protein is key for weight loss, and toning too- results won't be as quick and effective without protein.

Slender Blend is packaged in a big clear tub that looks so cool, and the simplicity of the packaging is what makes it, to be honest. It comes with a yellow scoop that's already measured at 10g per scoop so it's very easy to follow the recipes on the Protein World website. Also, with my order I received a free shaker bottle, and a useful little guide on everything you need to know about protein.

It includes lots of vitamins (including Zinc and Iron) and contains a good 28g (2016 update: 30g) of protein per 40g serving. Slender Blend is low in fat, carbs and calories. It's low GI too, which is brilliant for me as I try not to eat anything with a high GI index. So it's great for those who wish to stick to their low-carb diets.

I opted for the Vanilla flavour of Slender Blend, but other flavours available include: Strawberry, Chocolate, and Banana. The Vanilla flavour honestly tastes like ice cream and isn't as sickly as other protein shakes.

Slender Blend is very versatile- you can mix it in water or milk to make a shake, but I prefer to make smoothies with it! I find smoothies way more filling than shakes. You can even make pancakes and chocolate banana bread- yum! I have been preparing a variety of smoothies, including apple and blueberry, and strawberry and raspberry. I have even made an Oreo milkshake using Slender Blend, skimmed milk, an oreo biscuit, and some ice and blending it together.

The Slender Blend claims to help to make you feel full for longer, thus keeping cravings at bay. I not only found this to be true in my case, but I feel that this is an amazing benefit from the blend as I find it so difficult to beat cravings, but after having a smoothie made with Slender Blend, I remained full and satisfied for just over 4 hours. I've never felt so satisfied from just one smoothie!

I really want to try the chocolate flavoured Slender Blend as well as the Whey Protein so I will definitely be getting my hands on those as soon as this one's about to finish! I'll try and update you guys on my progress in a few weeks too!

Slender Blend retails at £32 for a 1.2kg tub and can be purchased HERE.

  3. Hi Susmi, I am SO GLAD someone has done a blog review on Protein World I've been wondering about it for weeks now! Thank you so much.

I do exercise weekly however I'd say on average once a week so im not sure if protein shakes would be right for me? How often were you exercising with the shakes? Were you also using it as a meal replacement on the days you didnt go to the gym?

    Thanks again,

    Luchia

    1. Hi Luchia,

I exercise for 3-4 times a week on average, and for 45 mins per session.

I've been having a protein smoothie made with fruits and Slender Blend for lunch after my workout along with a small snack like carrot sticks or apples with some peanut butter. This keeps me full for about four hours. So technically, I am using it as a meal replacement but I have a snack with it too so I stay fuller for longer. The smoothies made with Slender Blend are so filling.

On my rest days, I wasn't using it as a meal replacement but I have it as part of my lunch. Along with a low-calorie, protein-based lunch, I have a protein shake made with skimmed milk and Slender Blend. This also helps in keeping me feeling fuller for longer, and I tend to eat less for dinner.

I try not to have a smoothie everyday as I like to incorporate variety into my lifestyle. I find the protein smoothies much more filling than the shakes made with milk so I prefer to have the smoothies on my gym days! Protein shakes have never really worked for me as meal replacements, but as a smoothie along with a small snack, it works!

      Hope this helps! xx :)

  4. I've heard so much about this! What does the vanilla flavour blend taste like? I'm in a dilemma of whether to choose chocolate or vanilla!

    1. The Vanilla flavour blend is lovely and is very sweet. The actual powder smells a bit like Magnum to me! Vanilla's the most versatile flavour too- I use it to make fruit smoothies, and I've made an Oreo milkshake too just by blending it with some skimmed milk, some ice, and an Oreo biscuit.

I haven't tried the Chocolate flavour blend but you're probably limited in terms of the smoothies and shakes you can make- but this obviously isn't a problem if you're a chocoholic!

      xx :)

  5. did you buy just the slender blend or the one with the fat melters too? I'm really undecided.. i want to lose weight but not to much as I'm a size 10 now, I'm tempted to buy the slender blend but does it just help tone or do you lose weight with it aswell?

    1. Hey, I didn't try any of the capsules- just the Slender Blend. I did lose weight using just the Slender Blend and I can tell that my clothes have recently felt a lot looser on me, particularly around my waist.

Slender Blend is good for both weight loss and toning but I think people have been getting faster results when they use the Fat Melting and Multi Vitamin capsules too xx

    1. Hi Rach,

I personally think it’s nice with water haha. It tastes great with load of ice! I hardly ever make it with milk.

I mix 100g fruit, 150ml water, 3 tbsp plain yoghurt, ice, and 40g Slender Blend to make a protein smoothie. You can use any fruits you want- I’ve made loads of different smoothies, such as strawberry and raspberry, pineapple and coconut, blueberry, and also mango and strawberry. The yoghurt makes the smoothie thick so sometimes I leave it out.

Protein World have some really good smoothie recipes here too: http://www.proteinworld.com/recipes

    1. Hey,

If you’re talking about a weight-loss plateau, then yes- Slender Blend is useful for this. Over the past year and a half, I’ve lost over 3 stone and so it was difficult for me to lose more after this. But Slender Blend helped me with this plateau, and so far (6 weeks in) I’ve lost a further 8lbs thanks to it, which doesn’t seem much compared to other people’s results on Twitter but it’s amazing considering I wasn’t taking the Fat Melter capsules.

You can stop Slender Blend whenever you want to, I guess. I don’t think it requires really long-term commitment for results. But I personally think you should stick to Slender Blend until you’ve reached your goal and then maybe for a bit after to maintain that weight loss xx

    3. Hi, first of all- check with your doctor if a high-protein diet is suitable for an under active thyroid condition. But yes, you can eat normal food with the Protein World shakes. Just make sure most of it is healthy! xx :)

  10. Hi, I've been looking at this product and really want to give it a go. I've been going to the gym at least 4 times a week but can't seem to shift the last bit of fat around my belly and bum. Do you think this would give me that extra boost to get rid of the muffin top? Will it help tone the muscles around those areas too? Thanks Terri

  15. Do not order anything from protein world. I ordered $100 worth of products from them and never received my package. I ordered a month ago! They say it takes a week and it's been a month. They refuse to call me and I get automatic responses back about it being a busy time of year. Save yourself time and money and order from a different company they are awful!

  18. Protein world’s twitter is ridiculous tbh full of z lister celebs promoting their products!!! Web/blog reviews are so much better. If only protein world knew how stupid they look as a brand. The so called ‘celebs’ paid to endorse their stuff photograph themselves with the product seal unopened! Shows great integrity really……..

  27. Protein World is a terrible company with bad customer service. Their social media is a total shambles and the recent Beach Body Ready campaign is a JOKE. They block out any constructive criticism and are Probably one of the most immature companies! I saw the advert on the tube the other day and my blood was boiling. Protein World doesn't give a crap about their customers. They just care about their sales and are constantly desperate for followers on Twitter. Stay away.

  34. Hey,

Has anyone tried the fat metabolism tablets (used to be called slender blend tablets)? Theyre quite shocking, if you add them to the shakes you get a really weird metallic aftertaste which makes me wonder are they being honest about tablet ingredients. I told them this but they said not to worry about it! Odd
